As traffic signals become more complex pedestrian push buttons are needed.
If buttons exist, pedestrians must push them to get enough time to cross the street.
The question is can people go immediately once they push the button ?
The answer is NO
It is because once people press the button ,the controller will receive the signal.
But according to the setting of the controller,
the traffic light need complete the operation cycle fisrt .
Then the pedestrian light will change green
And people can go cross road .
For example :
1.West and east direction : traffic light of vehicle and pedestrian light are green ;
vehicle and pedestrian light of north and south direction are red .
- North and south direction:traffic light of vehicle and pedestrian light are green ;
vehicle and pedestrian light of east and west direction are red .
When people stand at west and east direction ,and operation 1,
You don’t need to push button ,because it was already green light on
If you really need to push the button ,the time of pedestrian light will add extra 20seconds
After finish operation 2, then turn to operation 1 ,time will add 20 seconds
And people can cross smoothly .
